 The Event
With the completion of “Vesak 2009 – International Buddhist Festival” held at BMICH from 9th to 11th May 2009, commemorating the Birth, Enlightenment and Parinibbana of Gautama Buddha, we are now looking forward to take this Festival into new heights. Together, with the vision of Light of Asia Foundation (LOAF) to communicate Buddhism through Audio Visual Medium and with our partner institutions National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka (NFC) and the Bandaranayake Memorial International Convention Hall (BMICH) has therefore undertaken on a joint venture to organize a unique spectacle that would make a statement to the International Community during the Vesak season in year 2010 & targeting 2011, the celebration of 2600 years of Buddhism.

The Activities lined-up are:-

  • Buddhist Film Festival – A film festival featuring themes on the philosophy of Buddhism, which is the main feature of the event
  • Animated Pandals – Attractive Pandals made using Computer Animation & Graphics
  • Vesak e-Cards – Greetings through the internet, using Vesak e-Cards
  • Photographic Exhibition – An exclusive collection of photography focusing Buddhist Monuments spread across the globe
  • e-paintings – Digitized collection of paintings on Buddhist themes.
  • Bhakthi Gee – A concert with talented Bhakthi Gee singers
  • Dance Drama – Sequences from Prince Siddhartha Story.
  • Workshops - On use of film in communicating Buddhism, conducted by an international panel.
